This page covers the cuttl.io website. Data that customers collect on their own sites with Cuttl is covered by their own privacy policies.
What we measure on cuttl.io
We use Cuttl, our own product, to see how people use this site.
- Cuttl (our own product). It records the pages you visit, clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, and may keep a replay of your session. Text you type into forms is hidden in replays. It also records your device type, browser and country. It never stores your IP address. Cuttl data is kept for 2 years.
Live demo sign-ups
To open the live demo, you give us your email, first and last name and company, and a phone number if you want to. We use them to give you access to the demo and to follow up about Cuttl. If you tick the box, we also send you product news and keep the date you agreed. Your sessions in the demo are recorded with Cuttl, as above, and linked to your email. We don't store your IP address. We keep these details for 2 years, or until you ask us to delete them at contact@cuttl.io.
Cookies and storage
If you are in the UK or EU, we only use these after you choose Accept. Everywhere else they're on by default, and you can turn them off with in the footer.

If you choose Necessary only, Cuttl still counts your session and records it as above, but stores nothing on your device, so separate sessions aren't linked.
Legal basis (UK and EU)
- Cookies and browser storage for measurement: your consent. You can withdraw it any time with Cookie settings.
- Cookie-free measurement of sessions: our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used and fixing problems on it.
- Live demo sign-ups: our legitimate interest in giving you access and following up. Product news: your consent, which you can withdraw any time.
Who else handles data
- Cloudflare hosts the site and keeps backups of Cuttl's database for 7 days.
- Cuttl's own servers store Cuttl data. A copy of cuttl.io's Cuttl data is kept on our private test server, and deletions apply there too.
- Sentry receives server error reports, with personal data removed.
We don't sell personal data, and we don't use it for advertising.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete data about you, or object to how we use it, at contact@cuttl.io. In the UK you can complain to the ICO; in the EU, to your local data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update the date at the top of this page.
