Get more Shopify shoppers to checkout
See where shoppers stop before the checkout button, watch those sessions, and test a fix on your theme before you roll it out.
Cuttl adds heatmaps, session recordings and A/B testing to a Shopify store without an app. Paste the Cuttl Tag into theme.liquid, and it covers your product, collection and cart pages up to the checkout button. Funnels show where shoppers stop, recordings show why, and A/B tests show which version gets more of them to checkout.
Where Shopify stores lose shoppers.
Each of these happens before checkout, on the pages your theme controls.
Carts fill up, but few reach checkout
A funnel from product page to the checkout button shows which step loses the most shoppers.

Find the step that loses shoppers
Set goals for add to cart and checkout started, then build a funnel from them. Funnels run on data you already have, so a new funnel covers past visitors too.
Funnels and formsWatch what happened before they left
Recordings replay real shopper sessions with idle time skipped. The timeline marks rage clicks, errors and the moment someone reaches checkout or leaves.
Session recordingsTest the fix on your theme
Turn the problem you found into an A/B test, with the evidence attached. Change text, images, buttons and layout on product, collection and cart pages in the visual editor, or use your own CSS and JavaScript.
Web ExperimentsRoll out the winner, and check it stays fixed
Roll a clear winner out to every shopper with a small holdout. Cuttl keeps watching the original issue, marks it fixed once the clean sessions can’t be chance, and reopens it if a theme update brings it back.

Shopify questions
Does Shopify have heatmaps built in?
Shopify Analytics has a heatmap view of sales by hour and day, or by product and channel. It doesn’t show where shoppers click or scroll on your store pages. Cuttl adds click, scroll, hover and zone heatmaps for those pages.
Do I need to install a Shopify app?
No. You paste the Cuttl Tag into your theme’s theme.liquid file, so there’s no app to install and no app permissions to grant.
Can Cuttl see Shopify’s checkout pages?
No. Shopify doesn’t run theme code on checkout pages, so Cuttl covers your store up to the checkout button. Set a goal on that button to count how many shoppers start checkout.
How do I run an A/B test on Shopify?
Add the Cuttl Tag, open the visual editor on a product, collection or cart page, and change the text, images, buttons or layout. Pick a goal such as add to cart or checkout started, and Cuttl shows which version gets more shoppers there.
Will Cuttl slow down my Shopify store?
The Cuttl Tag is under 1.7 KB, loads the rest in the background and never blocks the page. A/B tests are flicker-free, so shoppers don’t see the original page switch to the variant.
Does it work with any Shopify theme?
Yes. Every Shopify theme has a theme.liquid file. After you change or update your theme, check that the Cuttl Tag is still there.
Is there a free plan for Shopify stores?
Yes. The Free plan covers one active site and up to 5,000 unique visitors a month, with heatmaps, recordings and A/B tests. Bots we detect never count toward it.
