Journey Insights

Heatmaps and session recordings that show where visitors get stuck

Journey Insights shows how people really use your site: what they click, how far they scroll and the moment they give up. Cuttl flags the problems for you, so you know what to fix first.

What you get

Everything you need to understand a visit

Heatmaps tell you what happens on a page. Recordings show you why. Cuttl connects them and points you to the problems worth fixing.

Click, scroll and movement heatmaps for every page

See which parts of a page get attention and which get ignored. Compare heatmaps by device, traffic source or segment, and for each version of an A/B test.

  • Click maps that count clicks per element, including rage and dead clicks
  • Scroll maps that show how far people read before they leave
  • Movement maps that show where the cursor lingers
  • Filter by device, channel, campaign, country or your own attributes
  • Before and after views when a page changes

Session recordings that show the whole visit

Watch real visits from the first page to the last click. Jump straight to the moment something went wrong instead of watching the whole thing.

  • Every click, scroll and page change, with idle time skipped
  • A timeline with rage clicks, errors and conversions marked
  • Console errors and failed network requests next to the replay
  • Every session from the same visitor, across visits
  • Share a link that opens at the exact moment

Problems found for you, ranked by how many visitors they affect

Cuttl watches every visit for signs of frustration and groups them into issues, so you don’t have to hunt through recordings to find them.

  • Rage clicks, dead clicks and error clicks, down to the element
  • Refreshes, quick backs and repeated scrolling
  • Issues grouped automatically, with affected sessions and estimated lost conversions
  • Each issue links to the recordings that show it
  • Turn an issue into a test idea in one click

Funnels and form analytics that show where people drop off

Build a funnel from any pages or events and see which step loses the most people. For forms, see the field that makes visitors give up.

  • Step-by-step conversion for any segment
  • Drop-off for every form field
  • Goals and conversions, including revenue per visitor
  • Compare devices, channels and campaigns side by side

Feedback and NPS, linked to the visit behind every answer

Ask visitors what got in their way, then watch exactly what they did before they answered.

  • On-page feedback, NPS and exit surveys
  • A short prompt that appears when a visitor seems frustrated
  • Every answer opens the recording of that visit

Page speed and JavaScript errors, measured on real visits

See how slow pages and front-end errors affect conversion, so you fix the ones visitors actually run into.

  • Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP and CLS) from real visitors, by page and device
  • JavaScript errors and failed requests grouped, with the release they first appeared in
  • Uptime and checkout-journey monitors with alerts
  • Problems ranked by their estimated effect on conversions

Segments, visitor history and answers in plain English

Slice any report by who your visitors are and where they came from. Or just ask your AI assistant.

  • Unique visitors across sessions and subdomains, plus your own user IDs
  • Filter by device, country, channel, UTM, landing page, visitor type or custom attributes
  • Bots and AI agents kept apart from people
  • Ask Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini about your visitors through Cuttl’s MCP server

Safe to add to any site

Privacy, page speed and access to your data, handled from the first day.

Private by default

Form inputs are masked, IP addresses are never stored, and with a consent mode on, nothing that identifies a visitor is saved before they agree.

Light on your pages

The snippet loads asynchronously and records changes to the page rather than video, so it stays out of your visitors’ way.

Your data, whenever you want it

Export sessions, clicks, events and conversions as CSV or NDJSON, or pull them through the REST API, with no row limit.

Found the problem? Test the fix.

Web Experiments runs A/B tests from the same snippet. Turn any issue into a test idea with its recordings attached, then see which version converts better.

Journey Insights questions

Journey Insights is Cuttl’s behaviour analytics product. It combines click, scroll and movement heatmaps, session recordings, frustration signals such as rage and dead clicks, funnels, form analytics, feedback and site health, so you can see where visitors get stuck and why.

A heatmap shows where visitors click, move and scroll on a page, using colour from cool to hot. Cuttl builds click, scroll and movement heatmaps for your pages automatically, and you can filter them by device, traffic source, segment or A/B test variant.

A session recording replays one visitor’s visit: their clicks, scrolling and page changes, with form inputs masked. Cuttl records the structure of the page rather than video, so replays stay sharp and light, and the timeline marks rage clicks, errors and conversions.

A rage click is several fast clicks on the same spot, usually because something didn’t respond. A dead click is a click that changes nothing on the page. Cuttl detects both, groups them into issues and links each one to the recordings that show it.

The snippet loads asynchronously, so it doesn’t block your page from rendering. Recordings capture changes to the page rather than video, which keeps the data it sends small.

Form inputs are masked by default, IP addresses are never stored, and you can mask or block any element on the page. With a consent mode turned on, nothing that identifies a visitor is stored until they consent. Bots and AI agents are filtered out of reports.

Yes. Route changes made with pushState and popstate are tracked as new page views automatically, so frameworks such as React, Vue and Next.js work without extra setup.

Yes. Journey Insights and Web Experiments share one snippet, so every variant of a test gets its own heatmaps and recordings.

Only if you connect them. Cuttl has a built-in MCP server, so Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini can answer questions about your visitors, pages and issues once you create an API key for them.
